Chinese AF

Edinburgh 2026

Chinese AF is Kate Hu’s debut solo at the Edinburgh Fringe: fast, sharp, and proudly unfiltered. Born and raised in China, Kate is caught between cultures and constantly asked to “explain herself”—by her parents, society, and especially strangers online. She covers Chinese upbringing, culture shock, career choices that worry your mother, trolls with too much free time, and what happens when you date outside the algorithm, and everyone has an opinion anyway. She’s the first full-time comedian in her very Chinese AF family… which is why her parents still tell people she works in finance.

This is an archived listing from the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Chinese AF is by Kate Hu, listed under Comedy in the Fringe programme. It plays at Edinburgh Thistle Hotel, 59 Manor Place, EH3 7EG, 18 August to 22 August.
