A time-travelling love letter to the North East, inspired by the felling of the world-famous Sycamore Gap tree, blending original stories, folklore, history and imagined futures. It asks why the loss of a single tree felt so profound, and what it reveals about our connection to the past, to the future and to each other. This is a chance to see a new work-in-progress show from one of the most exciting writers from across the UK and Ireland, as part of the Shed Originals script development programme in partnership with The Lowry.
This is an archived listing from the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The Gap (WIP) is by Lowry, listed under Musicals and Opera in the Fringe programme. It plays at Shedinburgh @ Assembly Checkpoint, 2 Bristo Place, EH1 1EY, 20 August.
The show runs 60 minutes and is suitable for ages 14+. Entry is free.
