The Music of Sonny Rollins

Edinburgh 2026

Sonny Rollins’ eight decade jazz career led him from Harlem to the White House and around the world as a true great of the tenor saxophone. His music is joyful, exciting and soulful, with Caribbean influences alongside the whole range of jazz styles. Rollins’ band featured a trombone, so saxophonist Mark McKergow and his band are joined by American trombonist Porter Jones for a dive into music from the 1950s onwards. Mark is one of the most versatile jazz saxophonists around. He’s played in both Perth, Scotland and Perth, Australia, and lately with two bands.

This is an archived listing from the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The Music of Sonny Rollins is by Mark McKergow Quartet and Porter Jones, listed under Music in the Fringe programme. It plays at Scottish Arts Club, 24 Rutland Square, EH1 2BW, 18 August to 26 August.

The show runs 60 minutes and is suitable for ages 12+. Tickets are £15.
